Candace Nicole Barnett (CNB) was born and raised in Long Beach, California in 1988 and has been passionate about cinema ever since. Almost everyday after school she’d come home, complete her homework and chores, and begin at the computer for hours writing stories just for fun. Her father listened to her as she expressed how cool it would be to bring her stories to life on the screen. He had also noticed the unique way she’d watch movies. The questions she’d asked were about things like camera angles, camera movement, and editing. He realized that these were not things that typical children even thought about, so, at just eleven years old, he gifted CNB with her very own camcorder and her film-making began.
In 2005 at Long Beach Poly High school, CNB founded and was president of The Entertainment Club, where she recreated music videos and movie scenes starring the rest of the members of the club. She also shot and edited for the DVD yearbook and won the Digital Arts Award in 2006, the year she graduated. In 2008, CNB went on to study Directing, Editing, and Screenwriting at The Los Angeles Film School in Hollywood, CA where she earned her Associate of Science in Film Degree.
After completing school, CNB was accepted into a Production Assistant Job Training and Career Advancement Organization called Streetlights. Upon completing and receiving her certificate from the program she immediately began working in the industry as a Set Production Assistant on mostly Commercials and Music Videos. She eventually moved on to television in post production. Today, CNB is a Director/Editor/Writer on indie projects (Short Films and Music Videos) and works as a free lance Assistant Television Editor on reality and scripted shows for networks and streaming platforms like Amazon Prime, Netflix, E!, Lifetime, Disney, NBC Universal, CMT, VH1, WeTV, and Discovery to name a few.
In her spare time, CNB runs and owns a production company called CNB Productions. She currently does all of the shooting, editing, and photography for events and promotional videos as well as personal photo shoots. Eventually, she plans on directing and editing music videos for major artists and writing, directing, and editing feature films and TV series for major studios and her own production company.
